I came to Sam with an injury from work. He was absolutely amazing. He worked with my needs! He didnt have his own agenda of how I should heal. He changed up his plans for the day, based on how I felt day to day. He still pushed me to work hard, and praised me when I met goals. I will be coming back to Sam if I ever need therapy again. And if you read this Sam, thank you and thank you to your staff.

Sam is by far the best physical therapist I have ever worked with, and with three ruptured discs in my back, I have had a lot of therapy! Sam is extremely knowledgeable about his profession and takes pride in being able to help his patients get back mobility in whatever extremity needs work, and range of motion. He ensures you are completing the exercises correctly by modeling the exercises and then watching as you complete them to safeguard against injury. He explains how the exercise will benefit your body, and what areas it will strengthen. Lately, Sam has had some assistants working with him, and he is a wonderful mentor as well. He explains to them how he works with his patients, and has his assistants explain to him what they would do by engaging them in open ended questions. Lastly, Sam does this all with a sense of humor! When you have to have therapy, you might as well enjoy it, and I have had the opportunity to laugh a few times over his sense of humor!

I have been in and out of physical therapy for ruptured discs in my back for years. I have never felt relief after any of these sessions until I came to Sam for my physical therapy. Sam is very knowledgable about his profession, and takes the time to explain and demonstrate the therapy and how it will improve your pain. He ensures that you are doing it correctly and emphasizes that quality over quantity. Another aspect that sets Sam apart from other therapy places is that I am not doing the therapy on any sort of equipment. Many times, I am put on equipment for about 15 minutes and the therapist leaves to start someone else. At Sam's you have his undivided attention, and there are no machines there. Sam is very personable, and friendly, and I have enjoyed the experience, and feel a lot better from his style of physical therapy than any I have any other physical therapist; I am also taking away a lot more knowledge so that I am able to keep up with the excercises at home. Any time I am sent to physical therapy, Sam's Physical Therapy will be my choice for it!

I had a full hip replacement and I saw Sam for my post surgery rehabilitation. The first thing I noticed about Sam was his great bedside manner and his ability to listen and to understand your own personal goals. Every session is customized to how your body is responding that day. I never did the same exercises or stretches from one session to the next. I believe that I was able to not only reach my goals, but go well beyond them and was able to recover so quickly because of Sam and his outstanding approach to physical therapy. Do yourself a favor and see Sam for your physical therapy needs.

I was sent to Sam for my Workmans comp after a fall. Having never dealt with it before, he was very knowledgeable and was always helpful in educating me about how it worked. He would thoroughly explain exercises both in how to do them and why so that I always knew exactly what benefit I'd get from each exercise. He's extremely accommodating with regards to scheduling and will always try to squeeze you in. Always asking how things are feeling and how therapies are working, and will always listen when you say something is not helping or too much. One of the best physical therapists I've had the pleasure of working with.

Knew what worked and what did not for me. And got me back on my feet in weeks instead of months. They treat you as a person and not as a number.

I had a total shoulder replacement and Sam's Therapy was amazing. Sam continually pushed me forward but also at my own pace. I'm very curious about things, asked a lot of questions, and Sam patiently answered them all. He was also very considerate of my personal schedule. I felt let we made a good team reaching a common goal. If I needed therapy in the future, I would only call Sam.

Over the past 35+ years I had numerous physical therapy sessions by multiple therapists. I had physical therapy for my shoulder, hands, knee, multiple back treatments both prior to and after eight back surgeries. Most of the physical therapy involved a great deal of strengthening and exercises using different types of equipment. While some of these treatment plans had some results, they were greatly lacking any long term and often short term relief. There were a few therapists that would take a personal interest in the patient by addressing what the actual condition was and do some hands on therapy. Most however, would place me on a stationary bike or another piece of equipment and have me do an exercise for 10 or 15 minutes while they left me to attend to another patient. I recently had a hip replacement performed by Doctor Steven Drayer. From my personal experience, if you need a hip replaced, this is the doctor that should do it. Back to Physical therapy. Naturally, after a hip replacement physical therapy is essential if you desire to have a quick and complete recovery. I was introduced to Sam at Sam’s Physical Therapy prior to my surgery. Sam’s has multiple locations in Mid-Michigan and one of his locations is within the doctor’s office. Sam takes a very unique approach with physical therapy. He doesn’t use mechanical equipment to get you back into condition. He doesn’t share your time with him by having other patients being treated at the same time and he doesn’t have a “one treatment plan” to fit all patients. Sam treats the patient as a unique case and develops a set of exercises that will strengthen the muscles and limbs that need development and as progress is being made the plan is adjusted in order to maximize the results. In my case my right hip replacement was complicated due to a partially paralyzed right leg from a previous back injury three years ago. The physical therapy I had in the past did little to help this condition. Sam developed an exercise plan that began with some basic exercises to strengthen my leg, knee, thigh and hip. As time progressed the plan changed to the point that I can lift my leg, hold my leg straight and move it back and forth. I haven’t been able to do that for almost four years. During the physical therapy session Sam would present the exercise, help you do it so that you know how it’s done and in my case he took pictures so that we had a reference of the exercise once we left and went home. The reason we did this is because going to physical therapy and doing the exercises is not enough to make the necessary improvement to get back to full recovery. It’s just as important or more so to follow the exercise plan at home on a regular basis if a full recovery is expected. I had my doubts at first whether Sam’s was the place to go for physical therapy. The doubts were quickly eliminated after a short conversation with Sam. One reason to use Sam’s was because he was located within the surgeon’s office suite. The second reason was that he treated me as a person with unique needs. The third was that he treats one patient at a time and you are the only one being treated during your therapy time. And fourth, after just a few sessions of treatment I experienced positive results. I have never before had such positive results with any therapy session in the past. I would highly recommend Sam’s Physical therapy for any joint replacement surgery. Edward Shand

I have been very happy with the physical therapy that I have received from Sam. Prior to my surgery, when I met with my surgeon in his office, this is when I found out I could do physical therapy with Sam at the same location. I liked the idea that my surgeon and physical therapist were working together with my recovery. This is my first partial knee replacement and I will be needing the other knee done at some point. I have no issues coming back here and utilizing his services again. The appointment times were convenient. Sam was very encouraging throughout the whole process, explaining why we were doing the exercises and the benefits. I have recommended both my surgeon and Sam to people that I know who might be having knee issues.

Had a Mako total knee replacement by Dr Steven Drayer. His recommended physical therapist, Sam is the best I've worked with...why? 1. Expertise with the body... his attention to detail on how to do rehabilitative exercises. 2. His explanations of why & how to do the exercises were clear & complete. 3. He has an engaging manner & a good sense of humor along with being a very good listener. 4. He doesn't let you slide... a tough task master who positively encourages you to do beyond what you think you can do. Will there be pain? Absolutely, but it's short term pain for long term gain. I am 8 weeks out & yesterday hit golf balls, am walking better than I have in 50 +years, & am now unrestricted in activities... biking, hiking, golf, etc. For any future therapy,, Sam is the only physical therapist I will have going forward.

I had my own Physical Therapist before my surgery and assured him that I would be back after my knee replacement surgery to have PT. But then, I met Sam at Dr.Drayer's office. He met with me to teach me a few stretches immediately after surgery and before starting the regular PT sessions. I was so impressed the way he spent the time with me during those 60 minutes. He made me feel that I was the only person who mattered, and my well-being and recovery were the most important things. Two weeks after my surgery I went back to him and had regular sessions for a month. In the matter of four weeks he went from being our Physical Therapist to our family member. In every session he patiently explained the stretches and exercises and which muscles would be maneuvered and the benefits of the exercise. So each time I exercised I was very mindful of what I was doing. My recovery was swift and smooth. Mr. Sam is more than a Physical therapist. He has high ethical values related to what he is doing. Also the service he is rendering is so personal that it comes from his heart and it makes the patient feel special about himself / herself. I will recommend Sam's therapy to everyone who needs the TLC. This is the place where each individual is not a patient, but a friend who is in need of help and Mr. Sam can offer that help with unconditional devotion and dedication. I know where I will be going after my next knee replacement surgery because I can trust Sam's PT always.
